About Central Coast Judo

Central Coast Judo is located at 780 Bello St, Pismo Beach, CA 93449, United States of America.

Central Coast Judo has served the community for more than 40 years, originally established as Five Cities Judo before evolving to reflect its broader reach across the region.

The club offers fundamental instruction in judo for students aged 5 and up, with dedicated classes for kids and adults held at the Pismo Beach Veterans Hall.

This venue, located on the central coast of California, provides a consistent training environment for members from the surrounding Central Coast area, including Atascadero, Santa Maria, and Guadalupe.

The club faced a major setback when a fire destroyed its former training space, the Japanese Cultural Hall, on May 1st, 2011.

From that loss, Central Coast Judo was reborn, symbolized by its Phoenix mascot representing resilience and renewal.

Today, the club continues to grow under the guidance of Ken Guge, the Head Instructor, who holds the rank of Shodan - First Degree Black Belt, earned in 2014.

Ken Guge is certified through USA Judo, holding a Coaches Certificate and Promotional Referee’s Certification.

He has also completed Safesport Training and Heads Up!

Concussion training, ensuring a safe and professional environment for all participants.

The club operates on a weekly schedule with youth sessions on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30 to 7:30 PM, followed by adult training from 7:30 to 9:00 PM.

As a member of the United States Judo Federation and part of the Nanka Yudanshakai, the club benefits from regional support and structured development opportunities.
